Name

Shedrick Mitchell

Description

St. Louis native Shedrick Mitchell has musical roots deeply planted in Gospel/Christian music and yet extend far beyond to jazz and New Age. His influences are beautifully woven into a signature sound that brings light into darkness, healing to the broken-hearted, and illuminates the soul. Shedrick and McCluer High School classmate and former Yellowjackets drummer Marcus Baylor admittedly used to sneak into Jazz at the Bistro as high school students. Barbara Rose recognized them as up-and-coming musicians and set them up a spot to watch performances. After graduating from McCluer High School, Mitchell received a full scholarship to the Mannes College music program in New York City. He went on to work with Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Jay-Z, Maxwell, and others. He later spent nearly a decade as the lead keyboardist for superstar Whitney Houston. Make sure to come out and experience Shedrick Mitchell, a name that has become synonymous with the highest level of musicianship.
