Neal ‘Sugar’ Caine, a prominent jazz bassist and composer in New York City for the last two decades, is returning to his roots with a series of performances in his hometown of St. Louis. These shows serve as a homecoming celebration for the release of his latest album, Skip To My Lou, which debuted earlier this year in January. Featuring a blend of original compositions, the album pays homage to Caine’s St. Louis roots with its mix of “pretty melodies” and “down-home blues,” all while maintaining a sophisticated and contemporary edge. Audiences can expect a modern, funky jazz sound, reflecting the blues-infused essence of St. Louis.
Joining him for this series of hip arrangements is Taru Alexander on drums, Jerry Weldon on saxophone, and Andrew Fisher on piano.
