Description

For more than 15 years, Joel Vanderheyden has been making his mark on the St. Louis jazz scene—whether as a powerhouse saxophonist, bandleader, or educator. A former member of the Jazz St. Louis Big Band, Joel now leads the jazz program at Jefferson College and teaches saxophone at Washington University, all while maintaining a razor-sharp wit that’s earned him a devoted (if slightly groaning) following.

With his Vtet, Vanderheyden brings together some of the city’s finest players for an evening of swinging standards, compelling originals, and just the right amount of mischief. Expect a mix of serious musicianship and not-so-serious banter—because with Joel, the music is always top-tier, and the punchlines are always... well, at least memorable.
